• Ferrymasters Ltd has invested a further £200,000 in new tractive units. The latest order announced is for a fleet of 38 Volvos, consisting of 35 units — F86s — for local haulage requirements and three F88s for use on trunk services. This is coupled with an order for 50 new 12-metre TIR semi-trailer units costing over £100,000. This has been placed with Pacton Trailers of Holland. a departure from Ferrymasters' established practice of placing all trailer orders in England.
A member of the P & 0 Europe Air Transport Division, Ferryir already operates a fleet of more tha load-cartying units and 200 tractiv with more than one-third of the tot being based on company depots throughout Scandinavia and Corn Europe. The new Volvo units are f fleet replacement and expansion, op from depots at Desborough, Felixstowe, Hull, Immingham, Man( Southampton and Tilbury.
