MORE drivers have voted against taking industrial action against the installation and use of tachographs.
London and South East men voted by almost two-to-one against taking action, and there was a similar vote by the 23,000-strong Scottish region.
There have been similar votes in Southampton, Salford, and West Yorkshire, and only the Lincoln branch (not region) is known to have voted in favour of action.
And Midlands region, which includes the vehemently antitachograph Birmingham drivers, has voted by 3-2 against taking action, but there are hints of new pay claims.
TGWU insists that these votes do not represent a vote in favour of the tachograph, just a reluctance to take inJustrial action.
