LONDON Regional Transport's bus services will decline slightly in 1985/6, Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley has told MPs.
Mr Ridley said the decline would be in line with falling demand.
London ratepayers will have to find £212m next year to finance LRT, with central Government providing a further £111m.
Mr Ridley said that LRT was making substantial progress in meeting its target of halving subsidy fares to £95m by 1987/88.
Mr Ridley said that the ele ment of grant for subsidy will be about £235m next year, some £65m below what the Greater London Council provided this year.
At the same time, the capital element of the grant — about £200m — is £50m more than the GLC had budgeted for this year.
Overall the ratepayers in London were having to find £50m less than this year.
