AN application by United Automobile Services, Ltd., to run an hourly bus service on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays during the summer through the Berwick Hills and Park End areas of . Middlesbrough, was strongly opposed by Middlesbrough Corporation, last week.
Mr. E. C. Parr, Middlesbrough Town Clerk, told the Northern Traffic Commissioners that the two estates were the " territory" of Manchester's undertaking, and there was no need foi United to encroach on it.
For the applicants, Mr. J. L. R. Croft said it was realized that the two districts were in Middlesbrough Corporation areas and United were Willing to accept any conditions the undertaking cared to lay down. They would certainly not pick up or set down the same passengers within the Borough boundary.
Mr. J. A. T. Hanlon, chairman, said the Commissioners would visit the district and announce their decision later.
