THE OPERATIONS of the 1,000-vehicle fleet of Mitchell Cotts Transport are to be reorganized on a regional basis. There will be three regional operating companies who will be responsible to a new holding company, Mitchell Cotts Transport Services.
The West of England region will operate under Mr W. McCosh, London and East Anglia under Mr M. Hoperaft, and the Midlands and North of England under Mr M. Noel at Penkridge, near Wolverhampton. Mor the moment West of England operations will be controlled from Cotts House, London, but is expected to move to Bristol eventually. Ahe three regional directors will be joined on the YCTS board by Mr P. Worth, general manager of Mitchell Cotts Aransport; Mr. Ward and Mr K. Simpson, main board directors; and Mr C. Thornton, the marketing director.
Marketing for all three regional companies will be processed through the head office but all other activities will be controlled at regional level.
The group is involved in general haulage, contract hire, and warehousing, and is now examining the selfdrive market. It operates vehicles from the range of 30cwt to 32 tons gvw.
Mr Thornton told CM this week: "We have acquired so many companies in England recently, that regionalization was the next logical step." He went
on to say that the group's policy of acquisition would continue.
