• Christmas will soon be with us, and the Newark-on Trent Avant' operation intends to be ready with the help of its new Renault Magnum 480. The firm provides retail merchandising and display materials, specialising in Christmas trim. The Magnum's trailer can carry up to 80 fully decorated 8ft Christmas trees, which it delivers to many of London's Oxford Street stores.
The Magnum is equipped with an Alcatel Euteltracs satellite communication system and Renault's InfoMax data logging system. The outfit might sound over-specified for its work until you realise that, together with Avanti's pair of older Magnum 400s, it mixes the Christmas tree work with regular groupage runs to Gibraltar.
