Euroejectors' HD1 is a beefy, 80.3m3 (105yd3) push-out trailer built of Domex and Hardox steel for the demanding bulk waste and scrap transfer sector.
Like the other two Bulker finalists, it belongs to the fleet of that legendary Scottish haulier Yuill & Dodds.
With auxiliary engine power, the hefty reinforced steel inner blade compacts refuse loaded in from above. On landfill sites, the rear door raises hydraulically for the contents to be ejected. Body control levers are sited near the rear and in-cab controls are an option.
Knapen's 84.7m3 Cargo-Walk trailer will also be used to haul waste and other materials for recycling. Being of a more versatile side-opening design it can also handle virtually any type of backload, which impressed our judges.
Built on a steel chassis, the aluminium plank body's moving floor simply 'walks' the refuse or other product out through the large barn doors, or fork-lift pallet loads in and out through the side safely and quite speedily
United Trailers' 115yd3 ejector trailer is another established design that combines an aluminium body system with a steel chassis.
A heavily reinforced pusherplate is powered hydraulically, first compacting the household refuse tipped in from above, and then ejecting it through the rear opening.
When the ejection stroke begins, the hydraulic tailgate raises automatically.
United also fitted a powered netting system to contain loose waste en route to a landfill.
