AT a meeting of the Institute of r-LTransport at the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, W.C.2, at 5.30 p.m. on March 8, Mr. D. M. Sinclair, M.Inst.T., will speak on "The Development of Road Passenger Transport Services."
On the following day, Mr. T. Corbett Mitchell, commercial works manager of I.C.I. Billingham Division, will speak at Hull Chamber of Commerce on "Transport in a Large Chemical Factory." Also on March 9, Mr. V. W. Pilkington, M.B.E., director of engineering, Leyland Motors, Ltd., will address the Institute's Northern Ireland section on "Road Motor Vehicles: Their Design, Usage and Future Trends."
The Tees-side centre will hold its annual dinner on March 11, and the Northern section's annual dinner will take place at the Royal Turks Head Hotel, Newcastle, on March 12.
NINE VEHICLES IDLE
A N objector told the Scottish Deputy rALicensing Authority at Dundee, last week, that of his fleet of 17 tipping lorries, four were idle, and that his company had five new vehicles which had been bought last year and were still unlicensed. He said that Government cuts and the curtailment of building programmes were the main causes of the considerable decline in the haulage business.
