Mr Steele, 67, was national chairman of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association in 1964/66 and chairman of the executive committee 1966/68. In 1968, as a result of ill. health, he resigned from the council and the executive committee, and was at that time elected an honorary member of the Association.
