• The inaugural meeting of the Institute of Heavy Goods Vehicles Driving Instructors (Yorkshire area) was held in Leeds on Monday and was attended by 27 professionally qualified hgv instructors from all over Yorkshire. Mr Maurice Lee, of Harold Wood and Sons, was elected chairman, Mr William Edge of the Leeds Training Group, treasurer, and Mr Alan Fleet, also of the Leeds Training Group, secretary.
The aim of the Institute is to promote the professionalism of all hgv driving instructors.
Further meetings will be held at the NCL HG V Driving School, Marsh Lane, Leeds, on the first Monday of every month.
