I SMILED when I read the article about Scania and Volvo developing electric trucks (Our friends electric,' CM 22 August).
I can remember when all the town buses were trolley buses powered by overhead electric cables. I can also remember them being replaced by diesel-engined buses and the overhead cables coming down because both were better. Forty-odd years later it seems they may be going back up. Progress!? As for the article on drivers' foibles, if all drivers were owner
drivers a lot of the items in the article would disappear — because if they didn't disappear, the operator wouldn't survive. Vernon Hill Via email
