A LIGHTWEIGHT version of th Ten-Plus demountable bad' baseframe has been developel by Ray Smith Demountables Lti of Peterborough, expressly to refrigerated bodies which ar built from one-piece panels a grp/ply.
The design is claimed to talc' advantage of the inheren strength associated with thesr sandwich panels when used fo floor and body sides.
The weight-saving has beer achieved by using lighter mak runners and side raves, and re ducing the number of floo cross-bearers.
Ray Smith claims that, pro vided the body panels are at tached to the base frame in ar approved manner, the resultinc structure can cope witt payloads up to 15 tons.
A typical example of till weight-saving is for a 6.7m (22ft body at 305kg (6 cwt) reductior of 40 per cent.
