X Penrith magistrates have decided charges involving the falsification of tacho records by driver Robert Stratford are so serious that they must be dealt with at Carlisle Crown Court.
Falai accident
• The court case involving Perth driver Frazer Banks and Road Services (Scotland) has been adjourned until 12 February by Macclesfield magistrates. Banks is accused of dangerous driving and falsifying tacho charts; the company is accused of using a vehicle with a tacho not fitted according to the regulations. The charges followed a fatal accident.
Less licence
• A series of prohibitions imposed because of the condition of vehicles operated by Brian Alexander, of Neath, have led to the company's licence being cut from 12 vehicles and 12 trailers to seven vehicles and two trailers.
Maintenance warning
• Walter Waldron, based at Northenden, Manchester, was warned about his maintenance standards when he appeared before a Manchester disciplinary inquiry.
Drink-driving
• Driver Andrew Skinner lost his job with Ruane Transport Services, Chesterfield after he was caught drink-driving in his car at Christmas, a court heard. Chesterfield magistrates banned him from driving for 21 months.
