LEYLAND's launch of the Titan double-decker bus in May caused Leyland's Truck and Bus engineers to be involved in a race against time to reach production target dates.
Keith Evans, manufacturing director of Truck and Bus, said that the fact that the first axle units for the bus were already at Park Royal showed the total commitment of employees involved in the project.
He only wished that some of the people who had been so quick to knock Leyland had been around to witness the effort and achievement on this project.
The Truck and Bus Times revealed that production of the Titan has been brought forward by a full year to meet appear in the middle of this year.
Work on jigs and assemblies for the Titan production line at Park Royal is proceeding and Leyland is confident that all will be ready for production on time.
Marcus Smith, general manager of Leyland Truck and Bus passenger vehicle division is confidently predicting that Leyland will be able to sell as many Titans as it makes during 1978.
