Relaunch of model lastyear has addressed many of the driver criticisms with the original P-cabbed Scania. Improved driving position, more space in the footwell and general ergonomic improvements lake the P Series toward the top of the league in the distribution sector. A newfive-cylinder engine replaces the old six-pot 9-litre unit and offers power ratings of 230,270 and 31(Ihp, with chassis configurations of 4x2 and 6x2. P Series is most popular in the distribution sector, though the higher-mounted R Series is also available as a rigid for drawbar or long-distance applications with ratings up to 420hp from 12-litre Scania engine.
High engine hump in P Series restricts cross-cab access slightly though cab well arranged and driver has good view of the road and assured feeling when driving in traffic. The steering set up is good and, though with a full-width cab, the truck's easy to manoeuvre in town.
