Reynolds Boughton Ltd. Bell Lane, Amershem, Bucks.
The Turnabout system consists of a sub-frame that can be fitted on to any make of chassis carrying a track and a matching steel underbody which can take any type of body equipped with rollers. A lifting frame, controlled by a single eiectro-hydraulic ram has been designed to perform a number of functions. The first movement of the arm is used to automatically unlock the body from the chassis. The next up and over movement
allows the body to be set clown gently on its rear legs and the last movement swings a plate over the rear springs of the vehicle to restrict deflection and ensure a constant loading height whether laden or unladen. The system is normally fitted at Reynolds Boughton's Amersham works: the steel base-frame is supplied complete with legs, floor bearers and side raves. The cost of the chassis installation and one base frame for 18ft bodywork is approx £1000. A drawbar trailer version using the same system is also available.
