THE Minister of Transport has set up a new Under Secretary post in the Ministry to co-ordinate further work on the Channel Tunnel, following the recent decision by the British and French Governments to go ahead_ with this project.
The post has been awarded to Mr. 0. F. Gingell, the Under Secretary at present in charge of the nationalized transport divisions of the Ministry other than the railways divisions. Mr. Gingen will lead the British team in discussions with the French.
. Mr. R. D. Poland has been promoted to Under Secretary to take charge of the nationalized transport divisions in place of Mr. Gingell, The Minister has also appointed Mr. I. T. Lawman to be his principal private secretary in succession to Mr. C. N. Tebay, who is being promoted to assistant secretary.
