• Granting application for 32 coach operators to introduce coach master tickets on many express, tours and excursion services throughout the country, the Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner. Mr D. I. R. Muir. wished the operators the "best of luck" in this new venture.
The grant. made in London on Wednesday, results from the first of several hearings taking place in traffic areas throughout the country.
Conceived by the National Bus Co. the master ticket will allow visitors from overseas eight days' travelling on express and tour services of the companies participating in the scheme. The tickets, costing £8 each, will only be issued against overseas passports, the number of which must be entered on the ticket.
In addition to NBC companies, the following operators will enter the scheme: London Transport Executive, Norfolk Motor Services, Yelloway Motor Services, Premier Travel, of Cambridge, Travel House (Luton), Grey Green, Frank Harris Coaches, of Grays, Littlewood, of Sheffield, and the Executors of G. L. Sutton, of Clacton.
