WOLVERHAMPTON branch of the Transport and General Workers Union has made what is believed to be the first application in the haulage industry under the new Schedule 11 of the Employment Protection Act.
The section came into effect on January 1. 1977 and it sets up a procedure for raising "sub-standard" pay and conditions to those in effect elsewhere within an industry.
