A NEW version of the 6.5-litre 0,400 1-"L Power-Plus engine designed to give longer life has been announced by Leyland Motors Ltd. The engine will retain the same name but is known as the H.D. series, signifying high durability, and will be available initially for industrial purposes only.
Two of the engines will be shown at the forthcoming Public Works Exhibition, and design changes include the use of Wellworthy Al-Fin pistons which incorporate cast-iron inserts for the top ring, chrome-plated cast-iron cylinder liners and the use of high-grade material for the valves and stellite-faced inlet and exhaust valve seats.
