IN our issue dated February 3rd, 1931, we described and illustrated the Vokes Protectomotor air filter as prepared for Ford commercial vehicles. The Set in question retails at f2 7s. 6d. A cheaper model of cleaner for this make of machine is now available. The cast pipe is similar, but the cleaning element consists of a corrugated, built-up strip, consisting of three layers of gauze of different meshes. The element should be washed periodically in thin oil ; dust in the air stream is attracted by the oily gauze and remains thereon, instead of acting as an abrasive inside the engine. This Three-ply Cleaner costs 11 5s.
For the Fordson tractor there has been evolved a simple cleaner consisting of a five-ply element, housed within a sleeve of strong, perforated metal. The five plies consist of three metal ones
and two of gauze-texture fabric. Such a device is efficient without being complicated or requiring attention, such as would be the case with air washers which need replenishment. We understand that this new type, the Five-ply
Cleaner, has been standardized on the Fordson tractor.
These, and other patterns of air filter and cleaner, are made by C. G. Vokes, Ltd., Vokesacess House, 95-97, Lower Richmond Road, London, S.W.15.
