Load space dimensions in the new model are as follows: • Maximum load length, 2,949mm • Maximum load width is 1,762mm • Maximum space between the wheelarches is 1,390rnm That's slightly larger than the old model: • Maximum load length, 2 283mm • Maximum load width, 1,7262mm • Maximum load space between wheelarches, 1,285mm The most welcome information is that the new model is claimed to have an average fuel consumption of around 28-31mpg. Assuming the lower figure is correct, payload-ton-mile-pergallon (ptmpg) results are: Payload, 20 08 (cwts) x 28mpg 28.11ptmpg The 1965 850 model produced an average laden figure of 28.25mpg at an average speed of 31mph with a payload of 0.851 (tonnes) x 28.25 = 24.04ptmpg There's a vast range of options for the basic four lengths, and a number of models can be supplied with frontor rearwheel drive. The example I drove, the low-roof 280S with the 2.0-litre 100PS engine, has a list price of E15.180 (ex-VAT and road fund licence).

I enjoyed driving it thoroughly this is a worthy successor to the pioneer Transit of 1965.
