• Denis Flower — a veteran bus and coach administrator — has joined the Bus & Coach Council in succession to Ken Brindle, who has retired after 12 years with the Council.
Flower entered the industry as a BET senior management trainee at Southdown Motor Services in 1954. He moved to Devon General prior to an appointment as manager of Neath and Cardiff Luxury Coaches in 1964. Five years later he was additionally appointed manager of Thomas Brothers (Port Talbot). In 1970 he took over as traffic manager of Aldershot & District Traction, later becoming commercial manager of Alder Valley in 1972 and commercial officer, Southern Region of NBC in 1973. He was seconded to the British Transport Staff College as a director of studies, returning to NBC as group personnel officer.
His responsibilities with the BCC include secretaryship of the Traffic Committee, liaison with Whitehall, and claims and insurance matters.
