The all-round efficiency of the Saurer commercial vehicle, which is marketed in this country by the Sourer Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., of 21, Augustus Street, Albany Street, London, N.W., is clearly instanced in a letter received by them from a company of Liverpool contractors, to wit, Messrs. Robert Jones and Son.
They put a Saurer 5-6-ton tipping wagon in service about 13 months ago, and during this period of use the vehicle covered about 11,000 miles. The users state that it averages, on town work, 7i miles to the gallon of fuel consumed, and between 1,350 and 1,490 miles are run on a gallon of oil. The satisfaction which the owners are deriving from the lorry is summed up in an extract from their letter to the Saurer Co., and which runs as follows:— "The cylinders have not been 'decarbonized and the road wheels have not been lubricated since the lorry left your depot. The only replacement that has been required has been a C. and A. washer for the exhaust joint, at a cost, we think, of 7d."
As many of our readers will know, the lubrication of the road wheels on the Scorer chassis is effected by means of grease contained in a grease-tight casing inside the wheels, which only requires attention when the wheels are removed for retyring.
