LEEDS and Bradford hauliers and drivers have reached a wage agreement for hire or reward drivers which gives them potentially the highest percentage supplement for driving 38 ton ners.
The basic deal, based on vehicles' payload, increases the top rate (over 21 tonnes) from £89 to £94.50. Pro-rata increases lower down the scale increase the other rates to £93.66 (18 to 21 tonnes), £92.84 115 to 18 tonnes), £92.01 (10 to 15 tonnes), £90.37 (five to 10 tonnes), and £89.54 (one to five tonnes).
Subsistence rises from £10.50 to £11.
For 38-tonne lorries carrying 21 tonnes or more, a £1.80 daily supplement applies. This is not used to boost overtime payments, but drivers working on 38 tonners for three or more days a week will be paid the full £9 weekly supplement, which represents 9.5 per cent above the basic rate.
