• The passenger unions representing Dundee municipal busmen have worked out proposals for future operation of the local service. These will go to the council which has voted to sell its undertakings to the Scottish Bus Group because of losses arising from strikes.
In reaching that decision the council stated that it was still prepared to meet the men and talk about retention of the undertaking—if the men could provide a sound and safe basis for working it. The unions have been working on that proposition and came up with broad proposals on January 22 from which it is hoped to evolve a basis for agreement. The unions want to keep the service under municipal control and are opposing a sale to the Group.
