• A substantive version of the Tester's Manual was published on Wednesday to replace the draft edition published last November, of which some 29,000 copies have been sold. Relatively few changes have been made in the new edition of the booklet, which is a guide to operators on the plating and testing of goods vehicles which begins in October. The latest edition includes the new requirements under the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations as to maintenance of tyres and under the Road Vehicles (Headlamps) Regulations 1967. Cross-references are provided to the plating and testing regulations made on April 10, which lay down the legal requirements.
