THE fourand six-cylinder diesel engines developed from existing units by the
Ford Motor Co. Ltd. for the new D range are to be marketed by the company's Engine and Special Equipment Division in vertical and inclined form for use in construction and agricultural equipment and in the marine fields. The six engines— vertical and inclined forms of the 240, 330 and 360 cu. in. diesels used in the D serieshave been designated the 2700 range and offer power from 35 to 121 b.h.p. gross.
The iiCCOM pa FIN ing table gives details of the engines, which are based completely on the units used in the D range and, in addition, incorporate features to suit them for industrial rnptications. Timing and auxiliary gears include a 10 b.h.p, rear power take-off as .;t:inclarcl, and for heavy-duty use there are options of front and rear p.t.-o. units up to 40 b.h.p. A crankshaft front-end p.t.-o. for 65 b.h.p. is also available. Various designs of sump are offered to meet all 'requirements and the vertical models can be interchanged directly with the old Ford 591/592E four-cylinder and 589/590F. six-elinder units.
