Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ARE THE DAYS of supermarket motor shows numbered? We ask the question following the resounding success of our own Accessories and Components Exhibition (Ace) last week.

Last year, despite the advice of those with large show experience, we carried on with our plans to launch a modest show, exclusively devoted to commercial vehicle accessories and component manufacturers and distributors. The event attracted quality exhibitors and visitors, with one exhibitor ensurirt the sale of 25 per cent of his production in 1983.

The Institute of Road Transport Engineers exhibition is a crowd-puller at Solihull and the exhibition at Tipcon is now as important as the accompanying conference. Our planned conference and exhibition for the bus, coach and travel industry is showing great promise.

The small specialised and local exhibitions give both exhibitors and prospective customers the opportunity to discuss business in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. This is a growing trend and established exhibition organisers ignore it at their peril.

Nor is this a British phenomenon. Similar shows have been in vogue throughout Europe for many years. On the one hand exhibition revenue is limited, on the other so is visitors' time.

We all now look for value for money and time. That is what Ace and similar exhibitions offer and that is why our 1983 exhibitors have already booked stand space for Ace 1984.
