LEYLAND VEHICLES will no now assemble the ZF S6-3( gearbox under licence at the Al bion factory.
Instead, the gearbox, a Six speed synchromesh design for the 12 to 24 ton 145 derivatives, will be imported complete.
The surplus capacity of Albion will now be used to manufacture front axles which were previously ahsembled at the Hemel Hempstead plant at Alford and Alder.
The original Leyland/ZF assembley arrangement was due to begin in early 1983.
