• Representors have succeeded in restricting the number of vehicles authorised on a new international licence granted to Weltrail — and in getting environmental conditions on the licence.
The company, of Thornton, near York, had applied for a licence for two vehicles and trialers in possession, with four vehicles and trailers to be acquired.
Granting a licence for four vehicles and trailers only, North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority George Smedley imposed conditions that vehicles must only leave the site in forward gear, must not park on the highway within a kilometre of the site; must not wait within 50 metres of a road junction; and he limited maintenance to between 05:00 and 20:00hrs Monday to Saturday, apart from late working four days a month.
