• Leading Dutch, Spanish and French firms will bid in the next round of local authority refuse collection contracts, according to a report from the Association of London Authorities.
Some French companies such as Sitaclean (see page 13) and Cory-Onyx, have clinched deals. "As the second round of tendering is completed for the January contract start more and more authorities will find themselves dealing with continental competitors," says ALA vice-chairman Len Turner.
