Lock-ins in Irish pubs are not unheard of. However, drinkers at the Phoenix Arms in Tullamore, in the Irish Republic, were a mite surprised when they found the reason for an unexpected extension to drinking hours—their exit had been barred by an ambulance which had somehow managed to end up front first in the pub's doorway.
Luckily no one was hurt and I hear everyone took the opportunity to down a tincture or twojust to calm their nerves you understand. This happy predicament was all too soon resolved as local recovery operator Joe Clancy quickly came to the rescue. Teetotaller Joe wasted no time in removing the ambulance. Never mind lads, It was good while It lasted!
