• A bid for a new licence by father and son James and Darren Flitcroft, trading as IV Haulage, of Stockport, has been adjourned by North Western LA Martin Albu. The Flitcrofts were seeking a national licence for four vehicles and four trailers— a previous licence held by James Flitcroft was revoked because he did not have a professionally competent transport manager.
He made an application to renew the licence in January and had found a new transport manager in July The company had two vehicles in possession: he drove one; Darren drove the other.
The LA had pointed out that Darren no longer had an LGV driving licence. James Flitcroft said he had been thinking of dissolving the partnership and carrying on on his own.
Adjourning the hearing for two weeks, Albu said that in the light of what had been said he could not grant a licence that day
