A self-service system for use with Brodie Kent fuel delivery meters of all sizes is now available from Gilbarco. Known as Key Lock II, the equipment is designed to cater for vehicle bunkering or unattended tanker loading.
The Key Lock counter head can contain up to 40 separate mechanical counters with individual keys—for 40 separate customers. On inserting and turning a key a mechanical clutch is engaged to connect the meter drive to the selected counter. From then on all withdrawals from the meter are registered against this customer. Removal of the key disengages the clutch. To ensure that no unauthorized person can with draw product, an electrical switch is also moved to the "on" position when a key is turned, this energizes a solenoid valve in the main product line.
The Key Lock II system can be used on either a pump or gravity system and is said to be simple and adaptable.
