Clearly the parcels industry is geared towards regular business and, in most oases, the process would have been greatly eased by having an account set up in advance. However, our timings are quoted from time of collection, so the preparation factor is ignored.
TNT's solo effort to get our parcel delivered in 20 hours was extremely impressive. Beating 30 hours were DHL and, with TNT's help. Nightspeed. Both offered an excellent all-round performance althouglNightspeed was significantly cheaper The UPS delivery on the second day after collection counts as ; success, as does the Post Office effort, especially at less than 10% of the next best cost.
The greatest disappointment was FedEx. While its (Dutch) end of the process went perfectly, once Business Post took over the delivery it went badly downhill. Given that its fee was the second highest, it wasn't exactly a service to be proud of. We gave both FedEx and Business Post an opportunity to explain their performances on this occasion, but neither wished to make a public comment.
