AUnder current legislation, to obtain a
Con. A licence you need to satisfy the LA that you have a contract for at least one year to one named person exclusively for the carriage of his goods. But you would not be able to use the specified vehicle(s) for any other purpose.
However, should the Transport Bill now going through Parliament become law, the present carriers A, B and C licences will be superseded by a system of quality and quantity licensing.
