A RO-RO FERRY service between Swansea and Cork will be launched on 20 March.
HJ Lines has chartered the MV Victoria to operate the service three times a week in each direction, sailing from Swansea on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Hugh Johnson, founder of HJ Lines and managing director of Air Cargo Wales. explains: -The route between Swansea and Cork is well established, particularly for passenger traffic. There is, however, a growing demand for increased freight capacity on the southern Ireland/UK freight market route.
Associated British Ports, which operates Swansea port, welcomes the service and says drivers heading to Ireland from South Wales could save valuable driving time and avoid road miles, benefiting the environment.
The MV Victoria can accommodate 65 unaccompanied trailers with berths for up to 12 drivers.
