The Institute of Freight Forwarders has elected PETER THOMPSON president. He is presently chief executive and deputy chairman of the National Freight Consortium.
Roadline has made three senior managers members of its board of directors. GEOFF JENKINS becomes personnel director. He joined Roadline in 1980 as the executive manager of the company's personnel functions. He was previously director of administration and personnel at Midlands British Road Services. MIKE ROWLEY takes over as operations director. He came to Roadline in 1976 as director of its London region. His previous position was operations director of the parcels division. ROGER TRIGELL has been appointed marketing director. He came to Roadline in 1978. JIM WALSH has taken over as president of the Irish Road Haulage Association. He is general manager of Staffords Transport and Staffords Shipping and is based in New Ross. Mr Walsh was previously chairman of the South East Region of the IRHA, and serves as president for one year.
Carryfast, the national express parcels division of the SPD group, has made DONALD BRYSON sales executive. Formerly with Redland Rune and Greenshield Trading Stamp Company, he will cover East Anglia, Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
VIVIAN DOBSON has been promoted to truck rental manager at the Dagenham branch of Wincanton Vehicle Rentals. She has responsibility for selling the company's vehicle services across East London, North Kent, Essex and within the industrial sites at Dagenham.
Pandora, Irish Sea ro-ro and road transport operator, has named JOHN LUNDBERG as an area sales representative in the Irish Republic. He will be based at the company's recently-completed new Dublin office and de pot complex and will represent Pandoro throughout Connacht and North Leinster.
DAVID JOYCE has joined Courier and Data Transit as United Kingdom operations manager. He will control the daily operations of the company's five regional depots at Birmingham, Heathrow, Bristol, Manchester and Northampton.
