Two Industrial Tractors in the Company of a Range of Chassis with Different Pay-load Capacities

-1,N addition to five examples of • its ldifferent types of chassis, this concern has given prominence on its stand to two industrial tractors, one of these being the Model 20 10-tonner, with an all-enclosed cab, and the other a new 4 5-tonner styled Model 112.
So far as the chassis are concerned, the models on view are the Cl, C20, C30 and C40. The first-named has a wheelbase of 10 ft. 5 ins., and is shown equipped with a drop-sided lorry body; the carrying capacity is 15 cwt. It is equipped with a six-cylindered engine,
with a here of 313-6. ins., and a stroke of 41 ins., and it is rated at 26.3 h.p. The power is conveyed through a 9-in. single-plate clutch, with a vibration damper, to 'a three-speed-and-reverse
gearbox with synchromesh gears, which forms a unit with the engine. The final drive is by spiral-bevel gears, the rear axle being of the semi-floating type.
The C20 chassis is shown as a short• wheelbase model with a fixed-sided lorry body. This chassis, which has a wheelbase of 11 ft. 1 in., is powered by a four-cylindered unit rated at 21 h.p.,
which has a bore of ,aft ins, and a stroke of 41 ins. A single-plate clutch is also used on this model, but the gearbox Is a four-speed-and-reverse unit. The rear axle is of the fully floating spiral-bevel type.
The next model in the range is the C30, which is shown in two forms, one with a standard lorry body and an allsteel driver's cab, and the other with an hydraulic end-tipping body. The wheelbase is 13 ft. 1 in. The rated capacity of this chassis is three tons, and it is eouipped with a six-cylindered engine, which develops 78.5
b h.p. at 3,400 r.p.m.
The final exhibit is a C40 chassis with an all-steel driver's cab. Incidentally, it should be mentioned that the cabs on all the International exhibits are of all-steel construction. The power unit
of the C40 is a six-cylindered overheadvalve unit, rated at 28.3 h.p. and developing 78 b.h.p. at 3,400 r.p.na. The bore is 3* ins., and the stroke 4 ins. Features of the engine include a counterbalanced four-bearing crankshaft, a downdraught carburetter, thermostatically controlled cooling and exhaustvalve seat inserts. The clutch is of the plate type and it conveys the drive to a five-speed-and-reverse gearbox, in which helical gears are used for the third and fourth speeds.
