has developed a cost effective, life long solution to the problem of container baseframe corrosion.
During a normal life expectancy of 12 to 15 years, containers are subjected to rough handling, a wide range of temperatures and exposure to highly corrosive salt-laden atmospheres.
The two stage protection consists of yellow Teuclad primer containing inhibiting pigments to prevent the spread of rust that often begins in damaged areas. The Teuclad top coat acts as a barrier to sulphate and chloride ions while its laminar metallic particles give protection against abrasion and impact damage.
A spray application of the 9 litres, needed to treat the underside of a 6.1m (20ft) container, takes less than 30 minutes and is touch dry within a further half an hour. Contrasting colours of the two coats ensure complete coverage and uniform film thickness.
Results of cyclic salt-spray trials indicate a life expectancy of at least 15 years and Mebon is offering a five-year warranty.
