the decision to go straight out of education and follow in his footsteps by working for Russell Davies, along with the likes of Glyn Davies and Maritime Transport's John Williams. "I have a lot to thank those guys for," he says. "I was given a lot of Opportunities to develop my career."
He then moved into the world of shipping to "widen my horizons", and worked in bulk liquid distribution for Dutch firm Verbrugge, where he became the operations manager for its UK transport operation.
About 14 years ago Fiddy crossed paths with Thomas van Mourik, now chief executve of Culina Logistics, who told him of his plans to develop the business in the UK.
For the first five years at Culina, Fiddy was the general manager for transport operations, before being promoted to commercial director in 2001.
Chilled specialist Culina merged with ambient business Baylis in April 2008, and, while Fiddy admits he understands why van Mourik made the move, it came at a time where he was "considering where I wanted to be in the future".
"I talked about timing being critical," he muses. "I didn't approach NFT, it approached me. NFT has the potential to explode. It can be a dominant force in the next three years,"
