THE Bristol regional CMLDoY committee has named Sunday, June 13 for their competition. The Whitchurch venue will have the traditional range of spectator attractions. At the meeting last week Mr Ron Irons, md of Western BRS, was unanimously re-elected chairman, supported by two vice-chairmen: Mr John Budd, RTITB, and Mr Sid Wilkey, WDREHO Wills.

Togetherness

A NEW company has been formed within the Giltspur group to offer a complete freight forwarding service. The company, Giltspur Shipping Ltd, brings together three existing Giltspur companiesChannelflow Freight Services Ltd, Channelflow Air Freight Ltd, and American Overseas Shipping Ltd.

Giltspur Shipping will offer a general surface and air forwarding service, including packing, with specialist facilities for packing and shipping fine art and an international household removals operation.

Distribution talks

DIRECTOR-GENERAL of fair trading, Mr John Methven will be the guest speaker at the National Conference of Physical Distribution Management on November 2 and 3 this year.

It is hoped that the conference will provide a forum for senior executives to exchange ideas and examine aspects of management. Most of the conference will be devoted to case history presentations.

Code call

A JOINT call to the transport minister Dr John Gilbert to speed up the publication of the new Highway Code has come this week from the three main motoring organisations, the RAC, AA and RSAC.

In a statement issued by the associations' Joint Standing Committee they say that the present code is of limited use to a road user, "and could cause confusion and in some cases lead to injustice."
