im Sales of new trucks in November were marginally up on the some month last year, but overall sales are still down on last year's figure.
According to figures just published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders, 4,985 trucks and artics were bought by hauliers last month—up from the November 1998 figure of 4,810. Leyland Daf recorded the highest number of sales for the month (904) closely followed by Ivaco Ford (810). Scania and Volvo recorded sales of 709 and 738.
Overall year-to-date sales by all the manufacturers stand at 48,044 as opposed to 49;198 at the same point in 1998. Only Renault, Mercedes and MAN have sold more trucks so far this year compared with last.
