• Hopes that the success of the Freightliner system would be achieved not by political direction but by customers choosing of their own volition to use the most economical and efficient system available were expressed by the Freightliner marketing manager of British Railways on Monday.
The manager, Mr. T. J. D. Morris, was addressing a meeting of the Industrial Transport Association in Nottingham. And he gave his opinion that road hauliers would provide half of future Freightliner traffic by using British Railways as their subcontractor. A further 10 per cent would be traffic that was now being carried by C-licence holders and the remaining 40 per cent would be direct factory-to-distributor traffic.
