The Transport Bill states that if an operator is without a qualified transport manager for more than a month he can lose his operating licence.
By jove, weren't British Railways lucky? It took Mrs. C. a lot longer than a month to find a replacement for Sir Stanley.
Could have been nasty, couldn't it? No trains running. Didn't happen, of course. Some are more equal than others.
