• The transport committee of the European Parliament, which met in Brussels on February 1, is to prepare a report on the underlying principles and ideas for a future European transport policy. It will also examine the extent to which the Rome Treaties' influence on transport is still relevant.
The new transport commissioner, Mr Scarascia Mugnozza, told the transport committee that the Commission would spare no effort to get things moving again on the vexed question of common weights and dimensions for commercial vehicles.
