REDLAND PURLE is to take over Rochford District Council's refuse collection service in a deal which will save the council £100,0040.
Although the agreement has yet to be finalised Redland Purle will operate from July 1 for a ten-year period. It will take over the council's depot, 13 vehicles, and possibly some of the existing staff in a move which is geared solely to saving ratepayers money.
Although nearby Maldon council has operated a similar scheme for many years it is not expected that many authorities will follow suit.
