LABOUR MP George Foulkes has protested that the Government has backed down on its promise to alter school bus seating regulations.
His criticisms come after Transport Minister Lynda Chalker said that the Government had decided not to reduce the three-to-two age limit from 15 to 12, following strong opposition from the local education authorities, who were worried about the extra cost, Mr Foulkes said that it was because a heavily laden double-decker had overturned in South Ayrshire that he had become involved in the issue.
Once again children's lives are being put in danger by the actions of this penny-pinching Government, he said.
