A SKIP HIRE firm that "failed miserably" to implement a basic safety schedule for its two vehicles has lost its licence.
Nottingham-based Al Vale Skips had been called before North-Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry but failed to appear.
Vehicle examiner Robert Sparkes said that he had carried out a new operator assessment in September 2004 which had been unsatisfactory. Inspection intervals were too long: he had given the company advice and guidance.
During a maintenance investigation in October, it was found that six-weekly inspections were being carried out very late for one vehicle.That vehicle had been regularly used a( test certificate had expired.There were no inspc records for the second vehicle for 13 months.
The company was using an operating centr specified on its licence. Sparkes added. In 1.5 mi the vehicles had received one immediate prohit7 a variation notice and two refusals to clear.
